Fresh Produce Gleaners Needed
Catholic Charities is looking for volunteers to provide immediate support to highly vulnerable members of our community who have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
Our partner Farm to Pantry has a great need for volunteer gleaners. Our gleaning program provides fresh produce to our shelters and clients and will play an increasingly important role for our food access programs as we expand their reach during this crisis. A lot of property owners and crop donors are being turned away while food goes to waste when we don't have the man power to go out and harvest it all.
Volunteers are needed between 9am-11:30am on any day you chose Monday thru Saturday.
You can chose the glean location and day of the week on a weekly basis. Online self- sign up sheet is sent out every Saturday/ Sunday via email.
This is an active volunteer opportunity which takes place outdoors on beautiful farms with requiring moderate to intense physical activity including bending and lifting.
Gleaning is a great way to provide essential produce to our community while also combating food waste!
