Become a Through College Mentor for a Roseland District High School Student

Roseland University Prep and Roseland Collegiate Prep are seeking positive, enthusiastic adults who would like to make a difference in helping high school students achieve their dreams of successful post-secondary education. To make each of these dreams a reality, we started the Through College Mentoring Program, and we need your help!

Many of the students at RUP/RCP will be first generation high school graduates, and many of them come from low-income households, where English is a second-language. They have the drive and desire to pursue their passions, but may lack the connections, guidance, and resources at home to help them navigate and discover their opportunities. RUP and RCP do a great job of keeping them up to date on all the hoops to jump through to make it in the college world, but some students really want the extra help and support and  of a one-on-one mentor relationship.

That’s where you come in. As a mentor you will act as a resource and support for a student and help them successfully complete high school and transition into their post-secondary education. We will have monthly trainings for the academic piece, but equally important is expanding the students’ experiences and helping them see what is out beyond the Roseland community, and just being there as a sounding board and support. We are looking for a 2 ½ year commitment of 2 hours monthly, with much flexibility. Complete training and support is offered by mentor coordinators, so no need to be an expert in college requirements, all that is needed is a willingness to help your mentee navigate through this exciting and challenging time in his/her life.

If this sounds like something you or someone you know would be interested in, please fill out this interest form. We am also happy to answer any questions you may have. We hope you can help us bridge the education gap and make a difference in a student’s life by becoming a Roseland District mentor!
