Help kids learn about food and farming at Marin County farms!
Volunteer with the Agricultural Institute of Marin's Diggin' on the Farm Program! Fill out the form here.
Spend your time out at Northern Bay Area farms helping students experience sustainable food systems first hand.
Volunteer Responsibilities vary by farm and may include:
- Assisting farmers' presentations
- Keeping students alert and comfortable
- Providing expertise as trained by the farmer and AIM staff members
- Helping students with any needs while on the tours
- Leading discussions and educational activities when appropriate
- Creating educational activities
The Diggin' on the Farm program brings children and young adults from around the Bay Area to local farms. Students help harvest fresh vegetables, prepare and eat simple dishes using ingredients from the farm, tour fields in different growing stages, learn about soil microbes, conduct pond or creek studies, feed sheep, visit baby calves, and explore the natural environment around these farms. Through hands-on activities, they make connections between the environment, agriculture, and the food they eat.
Short and long-term volunteer opportunities exist. For additional questions please contact Lucy Morrison:
