The Vallejo Fire Department is hosting a State‑Sponsored CERT Train‑the‑Trainer (TTT) Course designed to prepare qualified participants to teach the FEMA 2019 CERT Basic Training curriculum.
Event Details
- Dates: May 11–13, 2026 (Monday–Wednesday)
- Time: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily
- Note: Out‑of‑class assignments, including teach‑back preparation, may require arriving earlier or staying past 5:00 p.m.

Attendance Requirement:
Participants must attend all three days to receive a certificate of completion.
Course Description
This course prepares participants to deliver the FEMA 2019 CERT Basic Training course. It focuses on building strong, effective instructors who can teach CERT concepts clearly while maintaining a safe, engaging, and well‑managed learning environment.
Course Goals
By the end of the course, participants will be prepared to:
- Deliver the 2019 CERT Basic Training curriculum
- Communicate the purpose and core values of the CERT Program, including safety, teamwork, and its role in local emergency operations
- Ensure students meet the learning objectives of CERT Basic Training
- Create a learning environment that is comfortable, structured, and supportive
Prerequisites
To attend this course, participants must:
- Have a referral from their CERT Program’s sponsoring agency
- Have completed CERT Basic Training (certificate or agency verification required)
Note:
Professional first responders (fire, law enforcement, or emergency management personnel) are strongly encouraged to complete a Basic CERT course or Hybrid CERT online course before attending. A strong training background and supervisor or program manager approval are required.
