Weekend Service Projects:

(UPDATE: OCTOBER 2007: While YVC is no longer up and running, we kept this page and others up, in case you felt like starting your own save-the-world-or-die-trying-coalition and needed some tips! )

This is where it’s at, people. Seriously. What better way to put off your latest history assignment than to volunteer with us on the weekends? Not that we are encouraging procrastination in anyway, of course! It’s just that you could actually be making history, which is infinitely more powerful than just learning about it.

Don’t believe us? Try this on for size:

In alphabetical order, tell us the first and last names of the Vice-Presidents for the last five terms. You’ve got thirty seconds…go! (No cheating!)

Can’t do it?

How about this: Name five people who have had a profound and positive impact on your life.

We bet you could go off for hours on end, and talk about more than just five people. The point is that YOU could be that person to someone else, whether it’s a child you tutor, a senior citizen you befriend, a homeless person that you value beyond appearance, or even  your peers for whom you serve as a role model…

Best of all, it doesn’t take that much time to make a difference. Our projects are usually only four hours long, leaving you plenty of time to finish that pesky history assignment after all. They’re county-wide and open to any youth in the sixth grade and up. Every month, we address different community issues, so you’ll never get bored! And luckily for us, projects usually don’t start until 10:00 AM, because let’s face it…who wants to be up at the butt crack of dawn on the weekend? Not us, that’s for sure. I mean, we’re do-good-ers and all, but not that early in the morning.

So, if you’re interested, simply check out our calendar here to see what we’ve got going on. Then if you want to sign up, just give us a dollar, *ahem*, a holler at (707) 573-3399 ext. 110. After that we’ll have you fill out the correct forms from here. Last but not least, follow the simple forty-two other rules and addendums here, and then we’ll be on our merry way! (Just kidding about the forty-two other rules…just wanted to make sure you were on yer toes!)  ;)
