is the Volunteer Referral Services?
Volunteer
Referral Services is the core of the Volunteer Center. It recruits
people who are willing to help in the community, interviews
them and refers them to appropriate volunteer jobs throughout
the county.

for Individuals:
© Connects
people of all ages with volunteer opportunities in more than 600
community based organizations.
© Provides
training and job experience for people interested in exploring
career options.

for the Community:
© Coordinates
the community action day Hands
Across the County with over 1,500 volunteers who help with projects at 70
locations.
© Holds
an annual Volunteer Recognition
Luncheon to honor volunteers throughout Sonoma County.
© Working
with County, City and community emergency service providers,
provides volunteers to disaster response agencies during floods
and other emergencies.
© Operates
the Literacy Connection to promote literacy in grades
pre-K through 6, in partnership with the Points of Light Foundation
and the
Corporation for National Service.

© Works
with employers to provide volunteer team-building opportunities
for employees.
© Provides
on-site interviewing and presentations on volunteer opportunities
that fit employees' schedules.
© Distributes
disaster response
information to employees and employers.

for Agencies:

training and consultation in volunteer management to more than
250 nonprofit agencies each year.
© Promotes
ongoing, group and special
project volunteer opportunities.
© Works
with the Press Democrat on "Community Connection" to
publicize volunteer opportunities.
© Provides publications and email lists as resources for nonprofit staff members.
