One Time Volunteer Opportunities

May 4th
Petaluma River Cleanup
at the Petaluma Marina. The Spring Petaluma River Cleanup is fast approaching. We are looking for volunteers who would like to serve as site captains at one of the hot spots we've located that badly need our help. We will be focusing on areas along Lynch, Washington and Adobe Creeks - let's stop the pollution while it's still upstream! May 4th
Council on Aging is seeking volunteer Wait Staff for their premiere fundraiser, Meals on Wheels Derby Day, May 4th from 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. No experience necessary, strong feet required. Contact Michele Leonard at 525-0143 x 147 for registration.

May 11th
Come one! Come all! To the First Annual Trashtastic Boatacular, on Saturday, May 11, at Nagasawa Community Park in Santa Rosa. We invite all Hacker, Maker, Boater, DIY, Students, Families, and Artists to create Fabulous Art Boats including Recycled/Reclaimed materials. Find us on Facebook, or call (707) 245-4735.

May 18th
St. Joseph Health
is organizing a family-friendly health event, Healthy You & Me, on Saturday, May 18th at Sheppard Elementary School in Santa Rosa. May 18th
On May 18th Community Support Network will hold their annual fundraiser, The CSN 500 - Racing the Law at Driven Raceway in Rohnert Park. As well as the teams racing against Police Chief Tom Schwedhelm's team, Sheriff Steve Freitas's team, and Supervisor Efren Carrillo's team, there will be good music and good food. May 18th and 19th
5th annual May 19th Windsor Green Half Marathon - 10k - 5k is searching for volunteers. Choose from pre-race registration Saturday May 18th 11:00 am - 5:00pm or Race Day Sunday April 19th 6:00 am - 11:30 am. www.runwinecountry.com info@eventswithsole.com.

May 19th
Course marshal volunteers needed for the Amgen Tour of California. Volunteers are also needed for a variety of jobs that range from placing signage along the course on Friday to cleaning up the festival and finish areas on Sunday afternoon. Some will be needed at the crack of dawn (or even earlier) on Sunday; others will work into the evening. Volunteers should expect to donate about four hours of their time to the job. In return, they'll get a cool T-shirt, an up-close view of the race and the satisfaction of being a key part of a great community and international event.

May 29th thru June 9th Senior Games
Council on Aging
is seeking volunteers for their upcoming Wine Country Senior Games, May 29th through June 9th. Seventeen separate games will be held up and down Hwy 101 Corridor. Check out our volunteer registration on-line website or contact Michele Leonard at 525-0143 x 147 for task descriptions and assistance.

Face to Face,
Sonoma County AIDS Network is presenting its annual craft beer and food tasting event, "Beerfest," on Saturday, June 1st .  Volunteers are needed for a variety of roles during the event.  Must be 21+ to volunteer. For more information, contact Jenny Juhl at jjuhl@f2f.org or  707-544-1581.

June 8th
Grapes of Rock Half Marathon

June 14th thru 16th

Waiting Room Hosts Needed
Are you outgoing, friendly, and caring? West County Health Centers is recruiting volunteers to serve as waiting room hosts and perform community outreach. Donation Sorters Needed
Catholic Charities is opening a thrift store this July! We are in need of energetic volunteer Donation Sorters who are comfortable working independently to intake and sort donations starting in May. Gold Ridge Farm

Marketing Coordinator
The Law Enforcement Chaplaincy of Sonoma County is seeking a volunteer online marketing coordinator for its annual fundraising event, Tour de Fuzz. Fundraising Campaign Development
Volunteer needed to develop, implement and successfully complete at least one major fundraising campaign to help JustHealth fulfill its Mission to create a just healthcare system in the U.S.: by being an advocate, taking action to protect consumers, proposing legislation, and educating the public about the true state of the current healthcare system. Marketing Internship

Clerical Volunteer Needed
The Scottish Rite Children's Language Center is looking for a clerical volunteer who would be available to substitute for volunteers who are on vacation or who become ill and cannot be at the Center on their assigned day.  Our volunteers answer the phone, take messages, cordially greet clients and parents, notify client's clinician of their arrival, maintain client files, and prepare therapy materials at clinician's request.  Hours are approximately 9:30 to 3:30 Mondays through Thursdays.  We are closed on Fridays.  If interested, contact Kathy Hogan at 539-3003.

Front Desk Receptionist for Arts Center
The Petaluma Arts Center has volunteer opportunities available for a few friendly people who love art and can make a 6 month commitment to the working at our front desk for  either 3 or 6 hrs per week. There's also a need for volunteers to help with exhibition openings and special events. Volunteers receive appropriate training and invitations to gallery tours. Volunteer with Radio and Video Production
Support your local PBS TV station! KRCB produces two programs with a local focus: one featuring music and the other a half hour program exploring a community health issue.Volunteers are needed to assist in research, transcribing video, rough cut edits,  and some camera work in the field. Training in Community Interview Skills
Listening for a Change is offering a free Community Listening Project workshop on Saturday, May 4th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County. Anyone interested in exploring our community through oral history interviews of our "neighbors" is welcome to attend. Become a volunteer and help strengthen the fabric of our community. Volunteer Event Greening Coordinator
Are you into sustainability and tired of seeing waste? Do  you know how to green an event? The Law Enforcement Chaplaincy of Sonoma County is looking for a volunteer Event Greening Coordinator to help us improve our practices for our upcoming event, Tour de Fuzz in September. This position would help support the volunteer Venue Manager and need to be available for planning leading up to the event and then on Friday Sept 13 and Saturday Sept 14 to oversee green setup and operations. Volunteer with Community Health Centers
Bilingual Volunteers Needed for Santa Rosa Community Health Centers to help patients who are not able to fill out paperwork in the clinic waiting room. Fluency in Spanish and English required. Help is also needed to gather children in waiting room and read to them. Additional opportunity to talk on nutrition education to patients in the waiting room, training provided. Volunteers needed M-F 8-5 PM, split shifts possible. We are looking for a minimum 2 month commitment. Sadie's Haven is an all-volunteer organization who welcomes any and all volunteers. Here's how you can help the horses in need. Meet with Vicki (our President and Founder) at our Sanctuary and help with: grooming, picking hooves, feeding, walking, cleaning/filling water troughs, cleaning paddocks & pasture areas, bathing and events. Most important of all, the horses need your tender, loving care and attention. Sadie's Haven Horse Rescue and Sanctuary is located at 2951 Thorn Road, Sebastopol, CA 95472 call (707) 206-1892.

Be a Part of the County Fair!
Are you interested in sustainability and 'green' issues affecting our planet? The Energy & Sustainability Division of General Services is seeking fun, energetic, creative individuals to assist with hosting events at the Sonoma County Fair this summer. These Greentivities volunteers will provide the community with ways to recycle, reduce, conserve, and live more sustainably. Some of the crafts/activities include a 'Trashin' Fashion Show', sustainable science fair, and cooking demonstrations using local foods. Volunteer with YMCA!
Become a tutor, or help with equipment as a volunteer with YMCA. Work with youth or help with the exercise equipment. Minimum age is 16, and must make commitment of 1 day/1 hour per month. Contact Heather for more info at 545-9622x3321.   

Golden Living at Petaluma needs you!
Volunteers needed for:
*  Candy Striper: friendly visiting to clients and assist staff. Volunteers can be age 13 years and older.
*  Garden with resident or small groups: Golden Living has several large patios and many waist- high accessible plant boxes.
*  Entertain by sharing your talent in music, art, etc., with a resident or with a  small group
*  Pet visits: animal must have current vaccine record
We are a 99 bed, post acute, short term and long term facility with a broad range of patients who would love to interact more with the community.

Help Run a Food Drive
Teens (14+) needed for Food For Thought's Saturday food drives. Responsibilities include collecting food and cash donations in front of designated markets all over Sonoma County. On-site training provided, support available, you will be given fliers and buckets. Staff coordinates pickups. Time commitment is 2 1/2 hours on a Saturday with 3 shifts per day. Help Rescue Pomeranian Dogs
Nor Cal Pom Rescue
needs volunteers in a variety of roles including: posting flyers, walking dogs, fostering rescued dogs, and providing web service and office support. Volunteers ideally would commit to a minimum of 5 hours/week. For more information, contact Kate at 595-3332.

Brighthaven Animal Sanctuary and Rescue
Help spread the word about Brighthaven Animal Sanctuary! Post flyers, create flyers for events, Facebook and Twitter postings, and Word Press experience very welcome. 2-3 hours a week, minimum of 6 weeks commitment ongoing. Minimum age 14.
