Food For Thought: Sonoma County AIDS Food Bank is seeking food bank volunteers! An opportunity for those who can volunteer once a month for a few hours and a fun service opportunity for groups.  All ages are welcome, but youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Food drives are a great way to make a huge impact quickly.  They take place at grocery stores all over Sonoma County on Saturdays.  Call Amanda Wood at Food For Thought at 707-887-1647 x107 or check www.fftfoodbank.org

Every Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 AM
Russian Riverkeeper Stewardship Park
is the place to see and participate in riverbank restoration and upkeep. Help construct trails, work with native plants, control erosion, eliminate noxious weeds plus many other activities. Adults and children are welcome to participate. Students can receive volunteer credit. The Park is located on the north bank of the Russian River directly upstream of the Guerneville pedestrian bridge.  Access the entrance from the driveway in front of Sonoma Nesting Co. (16132 Main Street)  just east of Armstrong Woods Road.  At the bottom of the driveway look for the blue and white sign that says, "Russian Riverkeeper Stewardship Park." Maria Carrillo Beautification Day

Earth Day Festival

Sierra Park Creek Clean Up (ages 6 & up)

The Roseland Youth Center is looking for help with their annual "Fun Run." No experience needed! Volunteers are needed to help as course monitors,  at registration, set-up, and the finish line. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society

May 17th
Make-A-Wish Foundation is seeking volunteers to help at their Wishes In Wine Country Gala, Saturday May 17th at the Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyard. Council on Aging

Sonoma County Hot Air Balloon Classic

Whitewater Rodeo on Santa Rosa Creek (ages 5 & up)
Build a toy boat and race it down the shallow rapids. Wear shoes that can get wet (no sandals). Laughs and prizes, everyone is a winner! Don't have time to build a boat?  Materials and assistance will be available that morning to craft your own vessel. Saturday, June 21  Time: 10:30 - 12:00 PM.  Meet at the Pierson Street Bridge  near #5 Pierson St., between West 3rd Street and West 6th Street.

Are you looking to volunteer on a regular basis? There are several programs at the Volunteer Center and throughout the more than 500 agencies we  serve.

Occidental Center for the Arts in  Occidental is seeking experienced Sound Technicians.  We  need volunteers to run both Sound and Lights  for our excellent music, theater and film events (several times a month). Chop's Teen Club is seeking volunteer tutors/mentors to assist in their free after-school tutoring program for Santa Rosa middle and high school students.  Training will be provided. The program runs from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Monday through Thursday.  Contact Amanda Sweet at 707-284-2467 x29 or 

West County Health Center is in need of a Wellness Outreach Worker. The Living Room has been a day center for homeless women and children since 1993 located in downtown Santa Rosa. We are seeking volunteers between 9am and 1pm, Monday through Friday to help look after the children and hand out basic necessities. If you are interested in volunteering at The Living Room, please contact Cheryl Parkinson, Executive Director, at 707-579-0138 or info@thelivingroomsc.org.

Verity is looking for volunteer/intern Crisis Line Counselors for our Summer '14 training! Our FREE program offers State Certification as a Sexual Assault Counselor, Penal Code 1035.2, transferable career experience, internship hours, awareness of sexual assault and its effect on survivors, practical experience in crisis intervention and victim advocacy, training in hospital and legal accompaniments, information on referrals, networking opportunities, and community involvement. If interested, please contact the Crisis Intervention Manager at (707) 545-7270 x16. The Humane Society is looking for volunteer  tour docents to lead informational youth and adult tours at it's adoption center in Santa Rosa.  Good public speaking and the ability to lead large groups of people is needed.  Training is provided. Contact bkarezes@sonomahumane.org.  

Disabled Services and Legal Center is looking for a Board Member. Help an organization that does so much for the disabled community.  DSLC is Northern California's primary resource on matters related to disability.  Contact Shirley Johnson-Foell at 707-206-1138.

Petaluma Arts Center is looking for a photographer to help at events shooting candid photos of artists, guests and artwork.  This is a fun and interesting environment where you can enjoy art and capture it for others to see as well.  Contact Abigall at 707-762-5600 x100 for more information.

Bilingual Volunteer Needed
Catholic Charities
' citizenship tutoring program is in need of a bilingual teenager to assist with verbal translation of instructions for our mainly Spanish speaking clients. This opportunity is every Wednesday from 5pm to 5:30pm in downtown Santa Rosa. This is a great way to gain experience translating while giving back to your community. Be a Part of the County Fair!
Are you interested in sustainability and 'green' issues affecting our planet? The Energy & Sustainability Division of General Services is seeking fun, energetic, creative individuals to assist with hosting events at the Sonoma County Fair this summer. These Greentivities volunteers will provide the community with ways to recycle, reduce, conserve, and live more sustainably. Some of the crafts/activities include a "Trashin' Fashion Show", sustainable science fair, and cooking demonstrations using local foods. Help A Horse Sanctuary
Sadie's Haven is an all-volunteer organization who welcomes any and all volunteers. Here's how you can help the horses in need. Meet with Vicki (our President and Founder) at our Sanctuary and help with: grooming, picking hooves, feeding, walking, cleaning/filling water troughs, cleaning paddocks & pasture areas, bathing and events. Help Run a Food Drive
Teens (14+) needed for Food For Thought's Saturday food drives. Responsibilities include collecting food and cash donations in front of designated markets all over Sonoma County. On-site training provided, support available, you will be given fliers and buckets. Staff coordinates pickups. Time commitment is 2 1/2 hours on a Saturday with 3 shifts per day. Brighthaven Animal Sanctuary and Rescue
