One Time Volunteer Opportunities

Check out one day opportunities where you can get involved in our community!

June 5th to September 25th
California Parenting Institute is calling for community volunteers to help with our Southwest Santa Rosa Farmer's Market. The market will be held Thursday's from 4pm to 7pm starting June 5th and ending September 25th in the CPI parking lot at 3650 Standish Avenue. We need four to six persons each week who will be able to arrive at 3:00 pm and help with set up, then perform one of the following tasks:

*    general information

*    parking assistance

*    booth sales

*    children's activities

Volunteers will also be required to stay until 7:30 or 8:00pm and help with tear down at the market's close. If you are interested in volunteering for any of these community markets, please email Tiffani Montgomery at tiffanim@calparents.org with your dates of availability.

Be Part of the County Fair!
Are you interested in sustainability and 'green' issues affecting our planet? The County's Energy & Sustainability Division is seeking fun, energetic, creative individuals to assist with hosting Greentivities--the award winning sustainable solutions showcase--at the Sonoma County Fair this summer. July 12th
Volunteers are needed to serve dinner and for clean-up during the a fundraiser event for Vietnam Vets of America: Welcome Back to the 1950's Summer Swing Fundraiser July 12th, 2014 from 6pm to 10pm. Please contact Karen 707-546-1591

July 26th
Healthcare Foundation's popular fundraiser Wine Women & Shoes will be held on July 26th at Chalk Hill Estate Vineyards and Winery. July 26th
Disability Services & Legal Center seeks Volunteers to help at its annual fundraiser "Music in the Vines" on Thursday, June 26, 6-10pm at the Paradise Ridge Winery. July 17th Training
CASA seeks volunteer mentors Sonoma County's Court Appointed Special Advocates will hold a four-day training for volunteers beginning Thursday, July 17. Volunteers are asked to a give about 10 hours a month to help kids who have been removed from their homes navigate the legal system. August 9th
Lifeschool, enriching adventures for teens is hosting the American Roots Music festival on August 9th in Bodega, in celebration of its 15 year anniversary.  Volunteers are needed for various tasks throughout the day from set-up to take-down.  Questions?  Please call 707-246-6088 or email tracynevill@gmail.com.

August 9th and 10th
Gravenstein Apple Fair, August 9 & 10, 2014, seeks volunteers. The "Sweetest Little Fair in Sonoma County"  is building on last year's successful return to the Fair's Farm Trails roots and commitment to the local community. This year's Fair is looking to be even sweeter and more down-home with fun and entertainment for all. Looking for more long term opportunities?
Are you looking to volunteer on a regular basis? There are several programs at the Volunteer Center and throughout the more than 500 agencies we  serve.

Volunteer Drivers Needed
Catholic Charities secondhand store, ReStyle Marketplace, is looking for friendly volunteer drivers to assist with donation pickups. Volunteers must be comfortable driving a large box truck and interacting with customers. This is a great way to give back to the community. Call 284-1700. 

Children's Museum Looking for Adult, Youth Volunteers
The Children's Museum of Sonoma County is looking for volunteers! Have fun while helping to inspire children's creativity and stimulate curiosity. We have adult, youth and group opportunities. National Alliance on Mental Illness Seeks Volunteers

Volunteer with Kids
Petaluma Small Craft Center's boating camps teach kids self-confidence, balance, teamwork, and how to have fun on "Petaluma's longest park". We need a lunchtime camp games leader to join our experts from Clavey Paddlesports, North Bay Rowing Club, Lokahi, and Spring Training Kayak Racing School. Summer Camp Opportunity
Guys do make a difference, as a Cabin Big Buddy, for boys ages 6-17 attending Camp Erin, Hospice by the Bay's free grief support camp August 8 -10.  Support kids who've lost someone close to them. Volunteer Wheels has openings for volunteer (non-paid) drivers. We provide the vehicle, gas, insurance and training. Must be 21 or over with clean DMV report. Support Residents of Nursing Homes and Residential Care
Senior Advocacy Services is recruiting for Ombudsman volunteers. An Ombudsman is a trained, state-certified individual who visits nursing homes and residential care facilities to investigate complaints and resolve problems for residents. They ensure residents' rights are upheld, promote quality of care and life for an isolated, vulnerable population. Call 707.526.4108 for more information.

Board Member Opportunity
Women's Recovery Services is searching for a new Board member who has strong financial background and/or fund development experience.  We meet one Monday early evening per month for regular meeting, in addition to being on and meeting with a subcommittee, which may also meet a minimum of one a month.  WRS provides 120 day residential substance dependence treatment to women, with infants and young children. Be a part of the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center

Help Distribute Food to Those in Need
Hunger and low food security is a very real and present challenge in Sonoma and Lake County. Catholic Charities is currently looking for individuals who are interested in helping us distribute groceries at food distribution sites. We serve all areas of Sonoma. Volunteer with the Pony Express
The Pony Express is an equine rescue that provides a life skill/leadership program for at risk youth and adults utilizing our rescued horses as guide and teacher (Animal Assisted Therapy). Catholic Charities' citizenship tutoring program is in need of a bilingual teenager to assist with verbal translation of instructions for our mainly Spanish speaking clients. This opportunity is every Wednesday from 5pm to 5:30pm in downtown Santa Rosa. This is a great way to gain experience translating while giving back to your community. Help A Horse Sanctuary
Sadie's Haven is an all-volunteer organization who welcomes any and all volunteers. Here's how you can help the horses in need. Meet with Vicki (our President and Founder) at our Sanctuary and help with: grooming, picking hooves, feeding, walking, cleaning/filling water troughs, cleaning paddocks & pasture areas, bathing and events. Help Run a Food Drive
Teens (14+) needed for Food For Thought's Saturday food drives. Responsibilities include collecting food and cash donations in front of designated markets all over Sonoma County. On-site training provided, support available, you will be given fliers and buckets. Staff coordinates pickups. Time commitment is 2 1/2 hours on a Saturday with 3 shifts per day.
