The County of Sonoma Energy & Sustainability division has helped Sonoma County become a leader in "green thinking" by modeling sustainable practices and developing regional alliances to identify, develop, and implement a sustainable future. Volunteers are especially needed immediately for: Sonoma County Fair, July 28 - August 9. Must have good communication skills and be able to lift and carry a light weight portable table and supplies. No prior experience required and times are flexible. Tours are offered Monday through Friday to 3rd graders during the school year and weekend tours are given every Saturday from May through October starting at 10:30 and lasting approximately an hour and a half. In addition the Petaluma Museum Association offers custom tours to groups throughout the year depending on docent availability. Walking tour docents are encouraged to wear period dress and often times take on the personification of a character from Petaluma's past although this is not a requirement. Face to Face: The mission of Face to Face is to provide compassionate care to people living with HIV and their loved ones, and to disseminate prevention education to all members of our community. They are currently recruiting Practical Support Associates throughout the county, but especially need volunteers willing to work in the Forestville/Guerneville area. Practical Support Associates assist people living with HIV/AIDS in their home with household tasks such as cleaning, meal preparation, gardening, or laundry. They also provide companionship and social interaction for homebound clients. There is an initial 3 hour training session, and volunteers donate two to four hours a week or bi-weekly on a flexible schedule. Transportation Associates are also needed throughout the county. These volunteers provide rides for clients to and from medical appointments and other health-related places.
