The Human Services Volunteer Information and Referral Program provides a
link between people who have needs with the services that can alleviate those
needs. On February 11, 2009, this
program launched as 2-1-1, a free, easy-to-remember number that connects
Sonoma County residents in need with health and
human services. 2-1-1 Sonoma County
is a private-public partnership between theVolunteer
Center, Community
Foundation Sonoma
County, theCounty of Sonoma
and United Way
of the Wine Country. Click HERE for a

Volunteer
Opportunities
Information
and Referral is staffed by volunteers who have been extensively
trained to assess an individual’s needs, prioritize the needs,
problem solve, and to refer to appropriate agencies. Training
is a combination of in-class room lecture, role playing, on the
job training, and monthly in-service trainings; supervision by
social worker.
Volunteers are scheduled on four hour shifts once a week. Currently
the shifts include 8:30 am-12:30 pm, and 12:30 pm-4:30pm, Monday
through Friday.
Volunteers
are needed now for all shifts. For more information about the
program, contact Toni Fitzpatrick at 565-2335 or e-mail at tfitzpat@schsd.org
Internships
are available for undergraduate psychology and sociology students
for the fall and spring semesters. Students have an opportunity
to experience face to face counseling situations, assessment techniques
and learn how to research services available in this community.
